Bariteau was born in Cohoes, New York on May 10, 1963, and was
involved in scouts and volunteer organizations in his youth. His interest
in Masonry was sparked when he became the recipient of a Masonic Scholarship
awarded by the Capital District Masons (NY) in 1981.
Brother Bariteau was initiated on September 25th of 2001, passed 2 March 2002, and raised 4 May 2002. Brother Bariteau had the pleasure of serving Gainesville #41 as the Junior Steward, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden and Senior Warden prior to his election to the East. He is a Past-President of the Alachua County Scottish Rite Club, and is the current President of National Sojourners Chapter #537 / Commander of Nathan Bedford Forrest Camp Heroes of 76. Brother Bariteau is a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Ocala Valley; and charter member of the Scottish Rite Honor Society, the Knights of St. Andrew for the Valley of Ocala. He is also a member of the Masters and Wardens Association of the 14th District, and a MIP of National Sojourners / Nathan Bedford Forest Camp Heroes of '76. He is a Board Member of the Gainesville Crescent Foundation, and has served the Grand Lodge of Florida as the District Chairman for Public Education and Citizenship in 2005, and is the current District Chairman for FA -100. His other memberships include being a Past President and the current Secretary of the Gainesville Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. He is a holder of the SAR's Meritorious Service Medal and the prestigious Color Guard Medal. He has Life Memberships in The Reserve Officers Association, The Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, and Sons of Colonial New England, as well as active memberships in the Army Nurse Corps Association, American Legion and a number of other veteran groups. He is also active with organizations which deal with early American History and Preservation. He is currently employed in the Trauma/ Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Shand's Hospital at the University of Florida, where he just completed his 20th year of continuous service. His hobbies include historical reenacting, digital photography, computers, and travel. |
